Do You Have An Addiction To Food? – You Can Stop Hiding Now

Are You Addicted To Food?
Do you notice any of these things about yourself:

Do you hide food from your friends and family?

Do you eat when you're stressed, depressed, or anxious only to judge yourself later?

Do you eat large quantities of food without regard to the consequences?

If any of these sound familiar, you may have an addiction to food.

What Causes Food Addiction?
There are two main possible causes of food addiction. It can be psychological or biological. If you are a psychological overeater, then your problem is that you use food to cope with emotion. If you are biologically addicted to a food, you may just enjoy the release of chemicals it produces in your brain, just like a drug addict. I'll address how to cope with both types of addiction to food now.

Biological Addiction To Food
There's good news about biological cravings. They only last 5-15 minutes. It's easier to ride out a craving if you know it's only going to last 15 minutes. Drink some water and eat a protein snack in this 15 minutes, and if your craving doesn't subside, then you may indulge without guilt.

Psychological Addiction To Food
If you often think about food when you are stressed, depressed, anxious, or angry, then you are using food to cope with your emotions. In order to stave off the unhealthy effects of overeating, you need to find another way to deal with your emotions. Realizing that you have a problem and taking control of your addiction to food may in and of itself put you in a better, calmer mood.
